Description
Breathing is the foundation of clear speech! This simple yet powerful breathing simulator helps young children develop the breath control they need for proper sound formation, clear pronunciation, and confident speaking.
The Challenge: Can your child blow the pompom all the way through the track in one smooth breath? This playful activity transforms essential speech therapy exercises into an engaging game. Just 1–2 breathing exercises before speech lessons help children achieve smooth exhalation and master "difficult" sounds faster — all while having fun racing pompoms!

Sound formation, diction, pronunciation clarity, and oral-motor coordination
Breathing is the source of sound and voice formation — developing strong, controlled breath is essential for articulating sounds clearly and speaking confidently
A child's ability to pronounce sounds clearly depends directly on breath control — this tool trains the smooth exhalation needed for proper speech production
Recommended by speech therapists as a pre-lesson warm-up — just 1–2 exercises before practice helps children achieve the breath support needed to tackle challenging sounds
Children learn to regulate airflow — starting gently, sustaining evenly, and controlling the force of exhalation, which translates directly to speaking with clarity and projection
What looks like a game is actually a powerful oral-motor exercise — children stay engaged and motivated while building the physical skills necessary for language development

Place the Pompom: Set one pompom at the starting end of the track. Position the child comfortably at one end of the track at eye level or on a table.
Take a Deep Breath: Encourage the child to take a slow, deep breath in through the nose — filling their lungs completely before exhaling.
Blow Smoothly & Steadily: Exhale through the mouth in a smooth, controlled stream to move the pompom along the track — not too hard, not too soft, just right!
Practice & Progress: Try to get the pompom all the way to the end in one breath! Use 1–2 exercises before speech lessons or practice sessions for best results.
